THE SESSION OF OCEAN VIEW PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

The Session is the ruling body of the church responsible for not only the business side of things but also making sure that the spiritual needs of the congregation are met.  The Session of OVPC consists of six Ruling Elders that are elected by the congregation.  Each Elder is elected to a 3-year term and is not permitted to serve more than 2 consecutive terms.  The Session elects a Clerk who is responsible for providing Session meeting agendas and minutes, maintaining the records of the church and acts as liaison with the Presbytery.  All meetings of Session are moderated by the Pastor or an approved substitute either invited by the Pastor or assigned by Presbytery.  Session meetings are open to the congregation.

Each year the Session elects a Commissioner to the Presbytery who, along with the Pastor represents the congregation at the Presbytery meetings.  The commissioner has both a voice and vote at the meeting and is charged with voting their conscience and not necessarily the will of the congregation.
